About Ellen Daly Specializing in Office and Home Office Organizing
I think I was born to be a Professional Organizer, thanks
to my mother who taught me how to organize everything from the
Halloween candy to the file cabinets. Experience is a great teacher,
and I have also spent years honing my skills as a member of the National
Association of Professional Organizers.
After graduating from Brandeis University, I traveled in Europe
and Africa for two years, living out of a camper van and sowing
a few wild oats. Back in the U.S., I spent over ten years in
corporate environments such as Genentech and UCSF. It was not
unusual for me to be ushered into the cluttered office of an
executive or professor, and be required to get it all organized
within a few days to a week. Then I would move on to the next
office in need of organizing magic. Challenging work to be sure,
but it definitely grew my flexibility and resourcefulness!
In 1998, my father-in-law died, leaving an entire estate and
home encompassing 45 years of life. To keep the family and its
assets intact, I left my corporate job to spend nine months organizing
the estate. I acted as liaison with lawyers and accountants,
cleaned the house and filled up 5 or 6 jumbo dumpsters in the
process, held an estate sale, staged and sold the home.
After that was finished, I figured I could do any organizing
project that presented itself, and in 1999 I hung up my shingle
as a Professional Organizer. I have successfully organized hundreds
of offices, home offices, filing systems, and residences. I’ve
also produced dozens of musical concerts and served as the Events
Coordinator for a local start-up winery. In 2005 I graduated
as a Certified Life Coach from the Coaches Training
Institute in San Rafael. Other services I offer include workshop
leader, speaker, and time management teacher.
I have practiced my profession in the South Bay, San Francisco,
and Marin County, and now live and work from the Sonoma County
town of Santa Rosa. I spend delicious free time doing martial
arts, flower arranging, hiking, and relaxing with a glass of
champagne in the hot tub!
